What this section asks

   Do you seek to engage in terrorist activity / have you ever engaged in it?

2. 2

   Have you ever committed genocide or engaged in torture or religious persecution?

3. 3

   Have you ever recruited or used a child soldier?

4. 4

   Have you ever helped anyone enter the US illegally?

5. 5

   Have you ever misrepresented a material fact to obtain a visa?

   A YES here (a §212(a)(6)(C)(i) finding) usually requires a waiver — disclose honestly.

   Have you ever been deported or removed from any country?

   Have you ever held a J-1 visa subject to the 2-year home residency rule?

Where people get it wrong

• → Immigration-law violations anywhere (not just the US) must be disclosed.
• → These questions cover your ENTIRE life — 'never' must actually mean never.
